    You're preaching to the choir.

    I always used one partition MBR for all these years and while I still has Win7 on my previous PCs, I did update to win10 to try and it installed itself with MBR. I then had no problem ever with dual boot.
    I just got 2 new PCs from HP and it came with UEFI out of the box.
    I would switch in a heartbeat but I don't know if I need all the other partitions in case I have to recover the OS. HP support couldn't give me an answer.
    Perhaps the more educated techs on this forum could answer that.

    Using EFI and a GPT you need all the partitions.

    Legacy and MBR then no.

    I understand that but what do the UEFI partitions do for me that MBR,Legacy does not?

    UEFI is supposedly more secure. While UEFI Malware does exist UEFI malware in firmware is destructive and runs before the OS loads I've never personally found any. I have however run across a few in BIOS.
