I started with Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit then upgraded to Ultimate some time ago however it's getting slower so would like to upgrade to Win 10 as a backup to my existing Win10. I know the free upgrade offer expired some time ago so wondering if it's still possible ?

Take due precautions- create a disk image of Windows before attempting the upgrade.
For advice and troubleshooting- see the tutorial (in the Tutorial section) on how to upgrade to Win 10.

I think there's a problem as it's not recognizing the product key which is on the bottom of my original Win 7 Home premium, whereas I would guess it wants the Ultimate product key....?
No I can't remember what happened now but I've been using it with no problems for a good few months, only recently starting to slow down....
If you have previously activated Win10 on the PC. When it asks for a key, click on I do not have a key. It will continue to install and activate once you get into Windows after the install is completed.
