I hit it (thumbs up) previously in this thread. I can't do it now because I'm on my phone and it is not an option on the phone display. Will do so when I'm back on the laptop.

Some driver problems. Old laptop was a toshiba and the Windows Home installed on it was Build 17134, rs4 release 180410-1804. After the transfer of the ssd that;s what it still shows with the Toshiba logo in Control Panel/system. I don't care about the logo (the new laptop is a HP) but the mouse and a couple of other things don't work as well as they used to before the transfer. I assume that because the drivers are different. The HP support makes all the drivers the laptop came with available but - they seem to be several of everything. one for Whiskey Lake (Windows 10 v1803/v1809) another for Kaby Lake (Windows 10 v1709/v1803), another for Kaby Lake (Windows 10 v1809), etc. None are for the 1804 I have. Do I just take the latest dated drivers? I'm not a techie and when I was in the military, it was a long time ago (Vietnam). So I'm out of my depths. Thanks for helping. The driver website is HP Pavilion 14-ce0000 Laptop PC - Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support all for my specific laptop
Actually, that's one of the easier things to sort out. All that OEM stuff can be changed to whatever you want, you could even have a look at the old HP system (now in the Toshiba?) and copy it over. Up to you - here's how....

Windows is good at finding drivers, but if it has a driver that seems to work OK (ish) it might not try hard enough. Often uninstalling the device in Device Manager then let it check for new hardware finds the right driver. If not, looks like you know where to get the HP ones...... but the mouse and a couple of other things don't work as well as they used to before the transfer. I assume that because the drivers are different....
Thank you so very much Bree. I couldn't thumbs up you again because it tells me I need to spread it around but you've been extremely helpful. And I learned a lot while doing this.
I would download drivers for the next previous version (v1803) which should also work in your version, or try the v1809 and see.
