    Can't Install v1803

I just tried to update my desktop from v1709 to v1803. The first attempt running setup.exe from the ISO failed when the PC hung at the first reboot. I then tried the Windows Update method which has failed several times with the error below. Any idea what's wrong?

It finally worked at the fourth attempt via Windows Update - just keep trying.

Error 0x8024200D associated with WU download issues

    As this interesting article states:

Windows error code 0x8024200d isn’t new to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update as it has been around for a while. It simply indicates that there is a problem with the download and that its files are corrupted or missing.

The reason you would be having corrupt or missing files on your update is that it is quite common that downloading files over the internet may deliver corrupt files. The file download can be dropped halfway or even not get downloaded at all because of a bad instruction sent back to the servers indicating that the file was successfully downloaded already. If the sent file cannot be decoded and encoded properly, then it is bound to be corrupt or even discarded by the system, therefore will be missing from the update files.
error 0x8024200D is associated with update/upgrade download issues. That's why retrying ultimately produced a successful outcome. Sorry for your troubles, which could be indicative of Internet access issues at the time you were online.
