Cannot Image with 1803, Can image with 1709 and upgrade to 1803 fine?

I have run into a strange issue with Dell Precision T3500 workstations where if I try to install Windows 10 Build 1803, the system will image. however right after logging in the PC will lock up (keyboard and mouse completely dead). If I image the PC with windows 10 Build 1709, then upgrade the PC to 1803, it works just fine.

I have reproduced this on 3 different T3500's all having the same result. I have also image every other model I have in the lab with the Win 10 1803 image and they all work fine.

Any one have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

As stated, I am able to upgrade to 1803 and everything works fine, so it is not as if I cannot function. I just fail to understand what is happening and it is really starting to bug me.....

Have Dell produced any Ver 1803 hardware or BIOS updates for the Dell Precision T3500?
    Are they already installed?

Updates are never completely clean so I do wonder if your Ver 1709 + ver 1803 update is establishing some sort of successful hybrid hardware handling that a pure Ver 1803 installation does not contain all elements of.
    - If that has been the case then new BIOS & drivers would have been designed to cope with that.
    - If the Dell Precision T3500 is no longer supported by Dell then I suspect that only another user in the Dell forums can help you past the issue.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

    Thank you for the response!

The BIOS is up to date with the most recent version. Judging by what OS platforms are available on Dell's drivers page, it would seem that they only officially support up to Windows 7 on this hardware.

I speculate that you are correct that there is something to the combination of 1709 as the base then upgraded to 1803. I will take the question to the Dell Forums and see if I get anything back there. I suppose I was just afraid that they would give me a "canned" response (i.e. "We don't support that").

Thank you so much for your time and help, If I get anything of substance from the Dell Forum I will be sure to post it here!

The Dell forums are user forums so you will not get fobbed off with "We don't support that". Naturally, the quality of responses for any given topic cannot be predicted in advance.
