I have reinstalled windows 10 6 times but each time it wont boot. It ahngs on a page with 4 pales blue window panes anda rotating circle of dots.
Once it did boot and I spent hours setting it up as I wanted it but same again after a restart.
    Hardware diagnostics all say passed.

Hi, which build of Windows 10 are you trying to install?

Many people don't mention this, but it's quite a critical issue as the behaviour and availability of 1709 vs 1803 vs 1809 can be quite different.

Did your PC previously work ok with that build installed?

Why did you decide to clean install?

Have you checked your RAM and disk? (Kyhi's boot disk available from the top of the Software and Apps section could help you with that).

I suppose dont know and dont know is the answer. I previoulsy was totally up to date with windows updastes but I was getting BSOD and all the browsers edge chrome firefox ran very poorly nothing appeared when I typed in. When I reinstalled windows I had windows 7 serial sticker on the PC and I had written a windows 8.1 srerial no on - I had all the free upgrades as they came after 7. It wouldnt accept the windows 7 but accepted the winows 8.1.

I decided to clean install (I think) because it was running so poorly. I am planning on buying a new PC this month and would have to clean it up then anyway to use as a spare.

Hi, if you have an iso corresponding to what you are using to install Win 10:

When doing a clean install of the same edition of Windows, there's no need to enter any license info. Activation should be automatic if previously installed.

Hi, iso's can install more than one edition. It's a question of which build you wish to install.

1709 has no bugs I'm aware of.
1803 had an ongoing problem acknowledged by MS where users have problems setting default programs. (MS broke that).
1809 is not available - delayed by one month.

The MS media creation tool will give you 1803.

The iso downloader tool available as post #3 in the thread on Kyhi's boot disk at the top of the Software and apps section lets you choose what you want- as do a couple of other sites.

    The choice is yours.

As your license is Premium you'll get Win 10 Home.

So is the problem likely to be because I chose Win 10 Home and it shoukld have been Pro? Would that have made it not boot after installation?

Win 10 should automatically activate with the edition corresponding to your license.

Home or Pro has nothing to do with it booting or not.

Also check you are using the correct language version - you generally need English International for the UK.

Can't boot after reinstall of Windows

My original version was Windows 7 Home Prem OA and I am installing Home Pro

It installs, I get to the desktop. I can then install software, updates etc, but if I resart it hangs on the 4 blue windo panes and rotating white dots.

I am installing to a 125GB SSD which I reformatted first.
