So, when v1809 came out a few weeks ago or so, I created a bootable Flash drive with it. It's my understanding that Microsoft has pulled the 1809 version. Does that mean I cannot do a fresh install with 1809? Of if i can, will I have problems?
You can Upgrade to Version 1809, haven't tried it for a clean install yet but it should work. The Upgrade hasn't given me any trouble on 2 Desktops and 2 Notebooks. It contains Build 17763.1 but you may not be able to bet updated to Build 17763.55, I did but got it just before it was pulled off. With the USB drive you can either boot to it or in File Explorer run the setup.exe file on it. I got the version which contains both the 32-bit/x86 and the 64-bit/x64, also got the .iso file for the same to create a DVD+R/DL disc.
Rather, you could upgrade to 1809, but that is now blocked by MS. It will not let you do an in-place upgrade while on line any more. And once you have tried, you can't do one off line either...

If you are on line it checks for updates while doing a clean install, so it probably will not let you do one. If you are on Ethernet, pull out the cable first. As long as you wait until the install is complete before going on line and checking for updates you should be able to do the install.
Is it 'OK' to install 1809? Well, it has a few bugs (like the one where it fails to overwrite an existing file of the same name when you use File Explorer to extract files from .zip) but those of us who upgraded while it was available are not finding any significant problems.
If you successfully do a clean install you will get the cumulative update to 17763.55. If/when 1809 is finally 'un-paused' you will get a CU to bring you up to the same build as the 'new' 1809.

I have been on 1809 for some 5 weeks now and there are countless little bugs, by far the worst of any previous version updates. Nothing major, sure, but an incredible total.
All this for nothing extra in terms of features other than enrolling you as a beta tester.
So don't bother, just wait until they sort it all out, unless you want to be an unpaid beta tester for MS and waste time working around some of those bugs.
A reset save files is an option if there are problems with the operating system/registry.
If you try it let us know if it works or fails and if it works whether it installs a different version of windows.
I've clean installed 1809 on at least 5 computers so far with no problems. They all ran great. I am using two in the shop. I've upgraded 3 other Windows 7 computers to 1809 over the last 3 weeks, also with no problems. In each case, Win 7 was clean installed and activated, then upgraded to Win 10 1809 by running setup from a flash drive.
They all ended up at 17763.55 after updates.
