OK, I already have an issue, right at the first hurdle!

"Setup has failed to validate to product key"

This is a fully legit version of Windows 7!

Assuming that you're doing a clean install, you first have to make sure, that you're installing Home/Pro according to what your W7 license is.

I haven't even had that option

This is the very beginnings - using the media creator tool.

I ran it, agreed to terms, it downloads. Then it come up with that validation message. Kind of hard to believe really.

Since your last message, I have ran this as administrator - lets see how it goes. If it fails I will just stick with 7 for the time being.

    And.....it failed again.

What kind of service is this from Microsoft, in all honesty?

    I am running 7 Professional.

    Cheers for the links

It looks like I will probably have to do the create media option and boot it up from a USB or DVD. Which I will hold off on for now.

In other news - mysteriously my PC is acting 'normal' now this morning. I can open up programs without any delays like before. Only yesterday, I had to wait almost 15 mins for the PC to come to life before I could open any program..

Technology - it never ceases to surprise me!

And it never will... especially when Microsoft is involved.

Try the tutorials above and I believe you'll have no problem. Good luck!

    Haha true!

I think I will hold off for now, I needed to get some photo's done and the PC seems to be well again and no longer sick.

I will more than likely eventually make the switch to 10 though.
