Windows 10 installation error 0x8007025d

Hello Everyone,

I just assembled a new pc with the following config:

- i3 8100 CPU
- 8 GB DDR4 RAM
- MSI H310M PRO-VH
- WD 120 GB SSD

I have another Windows 7 pc from where I created a bootable Windows 10 USB. I used Windows Media Creation tool. Then I started installing windows on the new pc and in the second step it gave an error 0x8007025d. The error text is Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all the files required for installation are available.

What should I do ? I tried re-downloading iso using that tool and gave one more shot but it did not work.

I tried downloading another ISO a couple of times but I still had the same problem. I tried different USB sticks but I still had the same problem. I disconnected all USB external drives and all internal drives apart from the drive I was installing to but I still had the same problem. I eventually fixed it by plugging the USB drive with the ISO file on, into a USB port on the rear of the pc, I had been using a front USB port which as we know are connected to the motherboard via cable whereas the rear ports are integrated.

c. BIOS setting?

this is not necessarily due to missing or corrupted files. It has been noted in the very long list of comments that it could be that you need to change the BIOS settings concerning SATA>AHCI to IDE. My particular board's BIOS does not have this option, instead it has an option called SATA AHCI MODE > enable or disable. I have to set it to disable.

Note: you should be using AHCI mode (BIOS setting) for your SSD.

d. RAM problem:

I remove a RAM i have 2 8gb xfury, remove one, same error, swap rams and voilà- I now have w10 on ssd

Bear in mind it's a new PC so you may wish to do some verification tests.

Thank you very much. The problem was caused because of a bad RAM. Even though I purchased it as new but it was faulty. After I installer another piece the problem was solved.

Glad to hear it's resolved. Interesting that's a known problem - hadn't expected such a failure to be so common, and does highlight the need for basic hardware checks.

A handy tool to have to hand is Kyhi's boot disk, available from the top of the Software and Apps section- Win 10 based, with plenty of utilities.
