Clean win10 Reinstall with MBR: where should I reinstall?

I'm attempting to make a clean win10 install on a drive that works but has a serious problem with the hard drive running continuously. I have a MBR setup. I'm closely following the Win 10 Clean Install tutorial, but not sure what to do after selecting a custom installation (Step 10).

After selecting custom installation, my current setup is displayed as shown below
    Name Total Size Free Space
Drive 0 Partition 1: System Reserved 100.0 MB 63.0 MB
    Drive 0 Partition 2 527.4 GB 116.1 GB
    Drive 0 Partition 3: E6_email 226.7 GB 154.4 GB
    Drive 0 Partition 4: F5_Data 78.1 GB 78.0 GB
Drive 0 Unallocated Space 99.2 GB 99.2 GB

Disk management has the same drive setup.

I'm asked where to install windows. I selected Drive 0, partition 2 and my setup steps followed that listed in the tutorial, starting with entering language, time, etc., and ending with the Installing Windows Status screen. I'm guessing the installation required about an hour. I was not at the computer when it finished

But, when I returned it had looped back to the initial screen where language to enter is requested. I could not leave without a forced shutdown, which I did. When I restarted, an error message was seen. I recovered using an image file.

Have you set it to boot DVD first what can happen is if you leave it reboots during installation but boots back to DVD and starts installation again

I don't recall a step that asks about booting, but l had left the bootable ISO flash drive in the usb port.
I didn't expect the computer to reboot until I went through the Cortana questions, etc., and was told I was finished. The computer may restart a few times during the setup, so I should have removed the flash drive

I started answering the questions a second time, but some changes were already made, and my choice as to where install windows didn't work. "We couldn't install windows in the location you chose...... For info about what happened: 0x80300001". I'll use the image file to return the computer to the original state and start again, this time removing the flash drive when I get to the first setup screen.

    Thanks, Jim

When Setup has finished copying the files from the usb to the HDD it reboots to continue the install from the files on the HDD. If you leave the usb in at this stage AND the boot order in the bios has the usb before the HDD then you boot to the usb and it appears that the install has gone back to the beginning.

That would most likely be because there's already an unfinished install in that partition.

Just turn off the PC, take out the usb and turn it back on. It should then boot from the HDD and continue with the first install you made, but that got interrupted by leaving the usb in.

Edit: PS. been there - done that

After I was returned to the first step, I checked carefully, and was able to close the window and leave setup (with warnings about not completing the setup). I had removed the bootable flash drive, and installation automatically continued two to three hours, with a black screen and rotating dots. Setup continued, and win10 is installed.
    Thanks for all the help.
