Laptop wont boot after migrating os form HDD to SSD

I want to upgrade to windows 10 in 2 stages . 1) Migrate Windows 7 OS and Programs from HDD to SSD
2) Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10

After migrating the OS ( Windows 7 ) and Programs from HDD to SSD using Minitool Partition wizard , the computer wont boot after I replaced the HDD. I get a start up screen with "J_ " I checked the boot order and it does boot from internal HDD first . There is no SSD designation in the Bios

BTW I see a small unallocated space in the SSD before the system partition and C drive can this be the problem ?

How to check whether the Bios even recognises the SSD?
Do I have to rename the SSD drive to C ?
Computer is booting fine after I reinstalled the HDD.

Disc 1 is the HDD and disk 2 is the SSD

Have you got a drive caddy that you can shows us a Disk Management shot of SSD.

That is a horrible clone.

Suggest you redo with Macrium.

Spaces added, recovery missing, large unallocated space at end.

I dont know why I cant get the recovery partition partition using Minitool . That worked very well with my HP Envy Recline. I will redo with Macrium . Do use the clone function?

Not regularly.

Dis one on my laptop and one on a desktop.

No issues, I plugged in and it booted.

Who's SSD is this? I ask as Samsung has a data migration tool that does this for you.

This is a Kingston A400, 250Gb SSD.

I tried to use Macrium to clone but the size of ssd is too small and I cant get the Recovery partition in. Macrium wont let me resize the c drive to make space for the recovery partition. Will cloning the System and C drive without the recovery be OK ? I can use Macrium image for recovery?

BTW I recently migrated from HDD to SSD on 2 computers with no issues using Minitool Partition wizard .Both booted up right away. I am puzzled by this one. I noted that the system partition is NTFS not Fat 32 on this laptop .

I know in 10 you don't need recovery as long as you have boot media.

I think you could leave off, clone, shrink C:, restore recovery from backup.

Just for my education, why the two step process, win 7 then win 10.

Why not clean install 10 on SSD? Just asking.

You can do mix of this.. see second option about it.

First choice: if target drive is too small, boot in Macrium, and restore partitions to new drive (just drag them with mouse and drop on new drive). Best would be to put new drive in external enclosure, but you can also put image on external drive and restore to built in one.

Second, if this don't work: Clean install on new drive, so you'll get correct EFI, restore etc. Boot from Macrium USB (or Macrium partition) and replace Windows partition with one from image, done previously)

Tried both ways myself, have to do it with second approach once (no idea, why reimaged system refused to boot).

Too many programs . Also friend's Notebook not mine. Its an old HP G27-227WM .

I am going to clone only system and C with macrium .Check whether it will boot. If not I will boot into Macrium and have it repair boot . THink this will work? What do you mean by restore recovery from backup
