    clean-install win10 and re-install hp-factory-installed drivers, apps

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 home (64-Bit)
    hi,
i own a HP laptop (model number A1U59AV ) ( support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-dv6-6c00-quad-edition-entertainment-notebook-pc-series/5214356/model/5214358?sku=A1U59AV ). my laptop came pre-installed with genuine windows 7 home-premium and the corresponding drivers and many software-applications developed by HP and also some third-partys. i had made a recovery-disc-set of 5 DVDs. after some years i made use of the windows 10 free upgrade offer, to upgrade to genuine windows 10 home.
now i am currently running 1803 version of w10. the current situation is that i suspect the infestation of a crypto-miner in my laptop; also the windows 10 installation is really slow to boot up. i am planning to do a clean-install of my windows 10 without retaining anything. and then i want to install the drivers and the above-mentioned 'free' software-applications that came as part of my purchase of the laptop. my doubts now are:

    1. will the windows setup ask for serial number during installation, or it will be automatically activated online based on my hardware-signature? (i am using a local account and not a MS account on the laptop). if it will ask, how do i get the serial number from the current installation? or do i need to link this to a MS account?

    2. i dont want the windows setup program to FORMAT my HDD while installing w10. just a DELETION of the old files would suffice. i stress this because my HDD is already old and i dont want it to be formatted again and again unnecessarily (coz reformatting reduces the life of the HDD). and clean-install win10 version1709 on the empty HDD. (i have a win10-with-fall-creators-update disk). and then update it to 1809. a) so it would be really great if i can know where i can download the 1803 redstone 4 and 1809 redstone 5 update files only (not the entire OS setup), possibly from MS update catalog, coz i dont want to download the full windows10 version1809 setup ISO, coz i am on a data-limited connection. b) or is there a possibility of getting these files from the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder by any means?

    3. since i am on a limited-data-metered-network, i dont want to download all the software again. how can i install the drivers and the above-mentioned 'free' software-applications that came as part of my purchase of the laptop, from my recovery-disc-set? do i need to install the HP recovery manager software again to achieve this? if yes, how? though windows-update in windows-10 offers drivers for all the hardware. and there is option to download all the HP-drivers and HP-applications that came with my laptop, the hurdle is my limited-data connection. and i did some digging in my HDD to find out that C:\SWsetup has all these drivers and applications too (though i dont know if they would have been infected too).

step by step instructions would be helpful. thanks in advance to anyone for your expertise in helping me. awaiting help at the earliest :)

UPDATE: i read that version 1809 has been deemed buggy and stalled for sometime, so i dont need it for the time-being.

where can i download the 1803 update file only?

please excuse me for posting hastily right after registration, it is not elegant, but i am in dire need of help after days of searching.

i am in need of the files that can update windows 10 version 1709 to 1803. i am not looking to download the entire windows 10 version 1803 ISO as mentioned in

How to Download Creators Update ISO via MS w/o Media Creation Tool - Windows 10 Forums

coz that needs huge bandwidth. in windows 7 it is possible to update w7, using the service packs and update files downloaded from the MS update catalog website. is something similar possible in w10 ? or there is no other go, but to download the entire w10 v.1803 ISO ?

BTW, it has been long since i posted this thread:

    clean-install win10 and re-install hp-factory-installed drivers, apps - Windows 10 Forums

but no one responded yet, someone please help me.

If you are on 1709, it should be available thru Windows Update, if you have not set Metered Connection. It's still going to download quite a lot, it's a new release, not just service packs updates like in Win 7.

Also, for now, it is available using the Upgrade Assistant at the MS site. It will be there until 1809 is released again.

Okey, i read your other post.

Are you still on the infected 1803 os build ?
because i can help you clean out all of the malicious code that's in your system.

And no you do not need to reformat windows 10 has a built in recovery that allows you to reset your os,
    but keeps the personal files.

    You go here.
    clean-install win10 and re-install hp-factory-installed drivers, apps-1rfjte.png

    Settings > Update & Security > Recovery
    Then you see this.

sir, i dont mean to offend you, but i prefer to delete my old installation coz it is infected and slow and buggy; and clean-install windows 10. for this i have a windows 10 version 1709 DVD already. i am not keen on using the recovery and reset option.

i wanna download only the update files that can update v.1709 to v.1803 for updating windows after i clean-install it and also for future use. since i am on a metered-bandwidth-limited internet, i prefer this over updating using windows-update.

    thanks in advance :)

    You're not offending anyone.

What you want to do cannot be done in the manner you wish to do it. As stated before, this is not like any win 7 process of service packs and just pieces of the OS. To upgrade to a full new release, you must download all that is needed for the full new release. There is no getting around it. Metered connection or not. It's unfortunate for you, but that's just the way it works.

Find someone near you that does not have metered and ask if you can download the ISO and copy it to a thumb drive or DVD. Or order a full 1803 DVD from Microsoft.

That is the folder where they would be downloaded to. There is a folder in there called Downloads. I would expect yours is empty, or contains empty folders, or nothing you could use to make an ISO. You can look for Downloads and post a pic of what you see and we'll look, but I doubt it seriously. If this were an Insider Build issue, there are some tricks, but they would not apply in your case. Don't mean to confuse you. If you want to post a pic of the Downloads folder, we'll look.

No worries @naveen1 :) no offence taken, like f14tomcat said. " You're not offending anyone. "
i do belive that it's not possible to download just the files that 1803 requires,
you either have to download the .iso again or simply do a clean install.

There is a 3rd option too, Fly to sweden, and i'll let you use my Gb connection to get the .iso

Would take you around 2-6min to get the .iso maybe less. ( i'm kidding ofc ^^ )

But this is a good tip
