Best Flash Drive and GB's for installation after a clean install?

    Hello Everyone,

What flash drive do you recommend to get and the amount of GB's I would need to make a bootable flash drive for installing windows 10 or even making a backup image for that purpose?

    Thank you!

The Media Creation Tool makes install media that would fit on a 4GB usb if you just make the 32 or 64 bit media. The dual 32/64 bit media requires an 8GB usb. Any good brand should do. I've used SanDisk and Lexar without problems.

For a system image I wouldn't trust a flash drive. While I've not had one die on me (yet) they are not said to be as reliable as an external usb HDD.

I have used the 8GB version for years. That is a great price on the 16GB.

In my opinion, USB2 is fine as an installation medium.

    USB3 is nominally faster, but:

    1) Windows won't install significantly faster from a fast USB drive (but much faster than from a DVD)

    2) A USB 3 drive has a USB 3 interface, but no guarantee of fast performance.

I have a 32 GB USB 3.0 drive containing Windows setup files as well as personal files.
It took 10-odd minutes to clean-install version 1709.
