Ok, Thanks anyway, What are your thoughts about this then.

I did manage to boot from the flash drive but it was like a clean install , meaning I had to give serial which I have for windows 8 and wasn't sure if that would work ? but more importantly I was concerned that it would overwrite my existing windows and lose my existing programs, do you think that the window key for windows 8 will work?

    Regards,

This is how you mounted the ISO, right? Right click on it and select Mount?

    Attachment 27893

Then you get this window showing the data in the mounted ISO.

    Attachment 27894

You double click on setup.exe to start the upgrade.

yes to both, each time it came back after it went through preparing and then finally check to see if there was any updates, after a few moments it comes up with you can't run setup from a flash drive?

No, you must upgrade and activate before you can do a clean install, which you don't want to do unless you have backed up your data or better yet, made an image backup to an external hard drive using Macrium Reflect Free. Good tutorial here:

Read somewhere that the latest Win 10 Insider Prev will be upgrades to Win 10 full when it is released. A good idea to install this sooner rather than upgrading Win 7 / 8.1 to 10?
