    samsung 860 ssd

I plan on getting a Samsung 860 evo 250 gbs on Thursday.
My current stats are i5 3.3 ghz 500gb hdd only 85 used in 6 years, windows 10 upgrade from 7.
My question is what improvement does this normally make.
I think the programs will start faster but how fast.
Will page loading on internet be faster.
Computer currently boots to usuable state in 45 seconds.
    Shuts downs in 15 seconds.
There are currently no problems on this computer.

Hi, the biggest thing you'll notice is the reduction in boot time. Typically a SSD boot takes around 12-13s to the lock screen.

I think the programs will start faster but how fast.
    - You may not see a huge difference.
Will page loading on internet be faster.
    - No. That's dependent on all manner of factors from DNS response to how busy the server is to network congestion- and of course your internet speed.

Assuming you have taken our so-often repeated recommendation to use disk imaging routinely (E.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + external storage for image sets) you will find imaging Windows partitions and anything else on the SSD to be faster.

Depending on your HDD trays or case you may need a 3 1/2 to 2 1/2 adapter to properly secure.

I don't know if there is any difference in most manufacturer's for SSD's because some of the specification's vary on read & write speed. My Windows is installed on Crucial MX500 1TB. I have been using conventional hard drives for years and with this component, the boot time is amazing. Obviously, if you install a game on your SSD, it will run much faster, I assure you that
I tested booting times with 8,16, 32 & 64GB ram modules installed. It load's the fastest with more ram installed Just wondering how fast it will boot with 128GB

Typically smaller SSDs are somewhat slower than larger ones which are also projected to last longer. Most benefits (vs. HDDs) are much, much faster access time, faster reads and writes. That not only helps OS load faster but also programs and applications. OS uses a lot of small reads and writes almost constantly so SSDs being so much faster also reduce the load on system itself. That all makes everything more responsive and make it appear faster.
All told it's a valuable improvement even more visible with devices that use slower HDDs like laptops do. They also use much less power making battery last longer.
