Your first step is to buy a disk. For example, see my specs. I use a 2Tb disk for images- at a pinch, 1Tb would do.

What was the summary report on the screen? What is it that concerns you?

As you're aiming to upgrade, inconsistencies in SFC /SCANNOW don't really matter, as all system files will be replaced, so long as the upgrade process completes.

Just make sure your disk is fine. It's actually more important that your disk is ok and chkdsk is successful, assuming the upgrade process completes.

@zbook - wondering what you're trying to do here.. we've recovered an unbootable PC.

Before ANYTHING else, I want to secure the current state and CREATE A DISK IMAGE.

Do you agree with that? Thanks.

@dalchina....agree with you......in the earlier post the OP commented that they had to wait to purchase a drive to make a backup image. And earlier in the thread you suggested checking the drive. The steps above are log collecting and checking the OS so that there is a post of the results into the thread.

Not quite- there are some repair steps there.

I don't want to do anything that could possibly compromise this- however low risk- until we have a disk image. After that, I rather think there will be some difficulty upgrading, which would be the next objective.
