    Fair point, truly noted.

The thing is, regardless if the laptop came with HOME and is entitled to a digital license, or if OP bought a HOME license, it must be clean installed. PRO cannot be downgraded to HOME.

Short: OP has two options to "go legit", either to buy a PRO license, or clean install HOME.

Yes totally agree, you can't get there from here. Pro to Home with a product key change is I believe the only one not doable. I've gone up editions and down editions with a key change, but Pro to Home is blocked. A clean install is the only official way. There was a reg edit that would let you do an inplace upgrade, or repair install or something with Windows 8.1. Not sure if I saved that link? You would still need to know exactly what to edit so I wouldn't really recommend it with a clear conscience.

EDIT: It was Windows 7, UNAWAVE - Downgrade Ultimate to Home Premium or Professional
