Have a recovery partition, How to install 10 on another partition?

I have a windows 10 working just fine on a new gaming PC. I want to use the same recovery partition, Only to create a new instance of the OS on another partition on the same hard drive. I know how to format/repartition the drive. I want to do this so I can use a copy of Windows 10 with different Black Viper settings to see what settings I like best, then I'll import those settings to my regular Windows 10 install and delete the new windows partition when i'm done.

Whats the best way for me to do this? Note, No CD Rom, I only have USB and will probably be using Rufus.

The first thing I would do is make a complete image backup of the drive to a external drive. You can download the ISO from Microsoft. Mount the ISO and copy the files to a USB flash drive. Make a partition large enough to hold the second OS. Then restart the computer with the flash drive connected. Enter the Bios and set the USB drive as your boot drive, save and exit. Install windows to the blank partition.

You say I want to use the same recovery partition what recovery is it a OEM that came with the pc as some only work with the orginal paritions and will wipe others

Winuser - I don't want to download an ISO because it won't have all my drivers and I want to be sure the version is exact to this system not the newest update. Winver says i'm running 1709 build 16299.492.

Samuria - Yes, it's a CyberPowerPC OEM on an MSI motherboard. I'm pretty sure it's not locked to the default partition but not 100 positive. It's a UEFI/GTP system and I haven't tried to partition the drive yet. I normally use MiniTools Partition Wizard.

Edit: I guess I'm thinking I need to find a way to back up my recovery partition to the USB drive to use like the ISO. I guess I should have asked that way to begin with. is that possible? Or - wasn't there a tool that would build a new recovery cd/ISO out of your existing system?

You can certainly try that ... but I'm pretty sure that is not going to work, as folks have tried it with HO OEM PCs and it did not.

Also, OEM Recovery Media generally starts out by completely reformatting the hard drive in order to recreate the original partition scheme before populating that from the Media.

Make the image backup then try changing your settings. If you don't like the settings change undo them. If for some reason the changes corrupt your system and can't be fixed use the backup image to restore Windows to the way it was before you made the changes.

The drivers are easy:

dism /online /export-driver /destination:e:\Drivers

where e:\Drivers is the path to a storage location you create to hold them.
