Thanks. I may have mentioned wrongly 140 GB. It may be 128 GB. But I will take your advice and if there is a manageable difference between price of 128 and 256, then I will go for 256.
I have to second that advice from ClintIgm Another reason could be, that 250 and larger SSDs will have much better write speeds. Just compare them.

Will you get SATA or M.2 drive?

Oh, almost forgot… I'm dual booting Windows Insider and regular build (could be any other OS, like Linux etc). Both systems can access the same data files, while there could be trouble other way
I am using two sata. One XP and second Win 10 dual boot. My boot priority is Win 10 hard disk which gives option whether to boot Win 10 or XP. Presently I want to replace only Win 10 hard disk. Could there be any issue, if one is SSD and other is Sata.

Sorry I do not know what is M.2. Is this the other name of SSD. I am going to buy SSD.

It depends on your motherboard, if it has special slot (small) for SSDs. They are both SSDs, ju st connection (and housing) is different.

Show us what SSD are you after

My motherboard is very old. Name Asrock and it is AMD with DDR 3 Ram. I have only listened about SSD. Do not know much about SSD. Whether SSD can be fixed in all motherboards.

Well we will assume you're getting a SATA 2.5 format SSD, All SSD is not the same there is the 2.5 SATA SSD, then there is the M.2 in at least 2 different formats SATA and NVME and then there are mSATA SSD also several different types of SSD's
M.2 NVME SSD runs directly through the PCIe bus rather than through the SATA controller they run about 5X faster than SATA which run about 3 x faster than a high quality 7200 RPM spinner. Storage which had been holding the speed of computer for a very long time is no longer the issue leaps and bound have been made in the last 5 years in storage speed and volume

Think that won't be necessary. You stated you have an older motherboard. Like ClintImg stated.. any SATA (2.5 inch) would do. Samsung 860 EVO is good drive. i would suggest 256 GB. They don't cost much more than 128 GB, but are better.

Not at all, as a 2.5 format SATA SSD should work on any SATA bus they work much better on SATA 111 port than they do on SATA 11 ports hopefully you have SATA 111 on all of your SATA ports. Your Owners Manual would have all that information and also show you which ports are SATA 111 if you have a divided system. M.2 Slots are a fairly recent feature first seen only a few years ago. Again your user manual will show you all that

Thanks to both you and AndreTen. With the help of both of you many things have been cleared to me.
