Yes there is a difference.
Recoverydrive = full compressed image copy of the current state of your machine (at the time of making image) that can be redeployed over your broken system and thus returning the computer back to a working state.
Windows Installation Media = As the name implies, it's an installation media, but it also contains a set of recovery tools with can be useful for restoring Windows back to a bootable state in case of failure.

There is stuff missing from the "Recovery drive" - it can only work if used on the same system. It isn't a full compressed image the last time I looked.
The Recovery Drive created by Windows 10 is NOT a system image. It is the standard Windows 10 installation drive with specific drivers for that computer included. It will also have factory provided software included, if it was present on the computer at the time it was created. The Recovery Drive will do everything the standard install drive will do created with Rufus.
In fact, the OEM custom apps and drivers are in the C: drive in theC:\Recovery\Customizations and C:\Recovery\OEM folders for use when performing a Reset. On an OEM installed Windows you can use Reset to do a full factory reset including all the custom drivers and OEM apps. These folders are included in the system files copied to a Recovery drive, effectively turning it into an OEM factory reset drive.
Create Recovery Drive in Windows 10...the following are copied onto the USB recovery media as well:
- Windows Component Store
- Installed drivers
- Backup of preinstalled Windows apps
- Provisioning packages containing preinstalled customizations (under C:\Recovery\Customizations)
- Push-button Reset configuration XML and scripts (under C:\Recovery\OEM)
Actually it's the full install media, and then some. A recovery drive is quite capable of being used to install Windows on any PC, but using one made by an OEM machine can have unintended consequences
Recycled my PC and Reinstailled windowsI used a usb to install windws from a mates pc. The problem is that after installation was compete I realized that the manufacturer and his computer product details are what my pc now register as??
How can I resolve this and get my Samsung manufacturer details back and my original pc specs?
