Boot 2 copies Win10 Pro in Separate Partitions?

Is it possible to install another copy (same edition) of Win 10 Pro on the same physical drive in a separate partition. I tried doing it and ended up clobbering the first install. I'm running the current update (5/20/18) of Win10 with UEFI operational. I have downloaded the Win10 installation file to a bootable USB. Is what I'm seeking possible; if so how do you do it? And does it violate MS's copyright agreement? Thanks for your help.

Unless the user has purchased an additional license for Windows 10 Pro. As you stated, there can be any number of Windows 10 installations on the same physical drive in different partitions.

I have 1703 on one partition & 1803 on another partition on the same disk. 1703 has been updated & 1803 is a clean install.

I did it to check if i would have issues with my legacy nVidia integrated graphic card (i did - about 20 mins. after installing the last update for the card (from Jan/15) i had a 'Page Fault in Unpaged Area' GSOD. Had to use Microsoft's basic driver - thankfully it allows me to use my Sabrent USB adapter to run a 2nd monitor albeit in a higher resolution than what the MS basic one will allow!

What I was doing wrong was invoking the install disk directly from the running Win10 instead of booting from it. Problem solved.

I think it was @Kyhi that showed me this trick:
You don't have to boot from the installation flash drive or disk. But instead of running the setup.exe in the root folder, run the setup.exe that is in the sources folder. That will allow you to do a clean install to a second partition or drive from within a running Windows.

Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, either a separate user account or virtualization would be a better way to go.
