Can I install Windows 10 Insider Preview on other SSD?

I was wondering if I can install Windows 10 Insider Preview Fast and Skip Ahead on other Solid State Drive or have to be the same drive where Windows 10 is now. Or add VMWare on the main drive with Windows 10 and install Windows 10 Insider Preview Fast and Skip Ahead in VMWare.

    Let me know about this.

Legalities aside (I'm not sure about that part) you have few options. One is to join insider program and update your present system to one of Insider builds. Another one is to do clean install of last (or any) Insider build to second disk an either activate it or run un-activated with some restrictions. There's also possibility to install it in a VM with same conditions as if on another physical disk.
If you want to install it in the second disk, make sure you disable all other disks until installation is complete. In a VM, you don't have direct access to HW, only thru VM so drivers and everything else (like internet, sound, video etc.) depend on the host OS.

You can install the Insider version on a different drive connect the different drive when you want to use it. Microsoft do not suggest running Insider versions as your "daily drive" as they are really Beta versions and they are looking for your feedback. It will activate automatically on a computer that has a genuine activated Windows 10 tied to it.

Or just leave the second drive connected all the time and dual boot.

I am dual booting, Win 10 Pro and the Win 10 Insider version. Each is on a separate SSD.

It can be on same ssd or separate ones if course.

I actually would install it on 2nd ssd with first detached, so you get the relevant boot files setup on drive.

Then I would reconnect first SSD, boot to OS on that and then add a dual boot entry id second ssd OS manually using bcdedit command.

That way if first ssd fails, you can still boit to second ssd.

No need to disconnect. I left my "operational" Win 10 Pro SSD connected when I first installed the Insider version and it automatically created a dual boot setup.

For people that have to ask, it's safer to disconnect/disable rest of drives specially if another system is present.
