Oh NO! Did 1803 ISO eliminate In-Place Update?
Since I've tried more times than I care to count to install the 1803 update I thought I'd give the In-Place update a try. To do this you have to boot from the 1803 ISO, which made on 09 May using the Media Creation Tool. I remember that when I did the 2017 Spring Creator Update (or whatever it was called) I had to do the same thing, so I pretty much remember the steps:
Boot from the USB drive containing the ISO file, accept the language & country settings, pick Install (not Repair), and then....Oh no! the only options are Install & save data files, or Clean install. The option to save files and applications is GONE! The screen did say that to do an In-place update that saves files & applications you have to mount the ISO in Windows and run the Setup file. This method fails every time for me. So since I am not willing to do a Clean install I just exited and returned to 1709.
Did I miss something along the way? If so I'd dearly love to know what it is. When it says "save data files" does it really mean files & applications?
