Upgrade to 1803 version fails with 0xc1900101-0x30017 error
Hello,
I’ve made 5 unsuccessful attempts at upgrading to the latest 1803 version. Each time it fails at the first reboot with an error 0xc1900101-0x30017. Had the exact same issue with the 1709 version too and had to do a clean install then. I’ve tried all the regular workaround drill (as below) without luck.
- Tried installing with all USB devices disconnected.
- Tried a clean-boot install
- Disabled/Uninstalled security software
- Even tried disabling (rename) the usb driver USBHUB.sys ( which I suspect to be the problem driver)
It’s baffling how they release updates with repetitive bugs every time. Each upgrade brings with it some issue or the other. Minor bugs which can be easily traced and fixed are tolerable. But these driver related ones are not acceptable anymore (they’ve been in the business long enough to (know) weed out these fundamental issues before release) especially when it’s hard for the average user to track down with little to no meaningful support on their forums.
A clean install is something that should be a last resort considering it takes me a week to setup everything (the million settings) the way I want to. Moreover, one shouldn’t have to either. Having to do so every time there’s an issue smacks of incompetence on their part leaving us users to do the “cleaning up after someone else” — which we all do at our jobs and get paid for. It’s no different from hardware manufactures wanting you to do a hardware replacement (read Motherboard) even for minor (fixable) issues or how you have to replace the whole part at your local sanitary hardware store when all that’s wrong is a silly O-ring or a gasket.
I’m leaving a link here of the setup logs for someone to take a look. I couldn’t make sense of all the garbage.
