1803 update built in ISO burn very slow

    Hi there

rarely use so not a mega issue but on a 4X DVD+RW the built in burning image on Windows is very slow (burning at 1X only for .iso ) with USB 3 external DVD writer.

K3b or Imageburner seem to work at proper speed which is average of 3.3X on write

not an important issue as I've said for me - but if you burn discs still I'd avoid the windows built in burner - at least with this update.

I don't burn a lot of optical media any more, but I do keep an ASUS external Blu-ray/DVD/CD burner/player around for those odd occasions when optical media access or creation is required. For burning ISOs, I know of no better Windows 10 tool than the Free ISO Burner. Download it and give it a try: still works like a charm.

I had to create DVDs to update the BIOS on my Lenovo laptops recently, when I just couldn't get USB based alternative/replacement media to work on those machines. Free ISO Burner did the trick for me then, to get my BIOSes patched for the recent Spectre v2 updates that came out in mid-April. Thus, I speak from recent experience.

That`s the program I always recommend too. And always burn Iso files at x4 speed (or the slowest your burner will do) to avoid corruption. x8 is usually fine too, but if your burner will do x4, then use that.
