So what is one to do now that the computer does not work anymore after the updated? Like Thompa I have various screens that get me no where, computer is useless. Microsoft should buy me a new computer.
I have the same issue on a clients PC. Going through a load of various things to try and recover and will come back with anything useful that works.

Finished installing Windows 10 update and am having same problem as described on the Reddit article. I also have Avast antivirus software. I’m not very computer savvy, so afraid to try some of the fixes. Is Microsoft aware of the problem? Seems to be pretty widespread.
Completely uninstall Avast using their uninstall tool.
Turn on Windows defender.
