Or switch the branch readiness level from 'Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted)' to 'Semi-Annual Channel'.
(or do both for a really long deferral)

I used the ESD file to make an ISO from which I created a boot thumb drive which I used to upgrade 3 pc's with. The last one got it from WU the next day so I could've just waited a few hours LOL.

I used Rufus to create a bootable Win 10 drive.
My question is opinion but would you convert the 1803 to .WIM from .ESD to utilize the DISM commands or leave it as is and use the ISO drive, refresh or an image when the system ever becomes unstable later on?

Now that the update tool is 1803 I downloaded and used it to create a new ISO and rewrote my install flash drives with it. Its much smaller than the 17134.1 ISO I got from the ESD file. I never try to image my current build and would rather just do a clean install if something becomes amiss later on.

Yes it is smaller. The clean install makes sense. I did use Fresh Start and it worked out well.

You should always be creating images, if you have someplace to store them.

Worst case scenario, create a partition on your OS drive, it's better than nothing :)

The DISM commands work with both install.wim and install.esd. See Step 7 in this tutorial for the restorehealth command line using the esd.

I know how to find the 'install.ESD' in sources. Is that what he means by 'Full path to installed path.ESD'
Maybe you could help me clarify that full path so I will know what to copy and paste.
I will keep studying the directions but I am stuck about the red portion as to what to paste.

I also know about the index number, in my case it would be 1 as I have Window 10 Pro x64.

For example, if you have the 1803 install media created by the MCT on a USB and that USB has the drive letter E: the command (for Pro) would be:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:E:\Sources\Install.esd:6 /limitaccess

...I also know about the index number, in my case it would be 1 as I have Window 10 Pro x64.
Just because the index for Pro was 1 in earlier versions, doesn't mean it is for all versions. It changed with 1709, and changed again to 6 for 1803. To find the correct index number use this Dism command:

    dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:E:\sources\install.esd

    Code:
    Details for image : E:\sources\install.esd

    Index : 1
    Name : Windows 10 Home
    Description : Windows 10 Home
    Size : 15,390,516,245 bytes

    Name : Windows 10 Pro N

    The operation completed successfully.
