When You load setup defaults the network boot will be re-enabled. I always disable it for both security reasons and to just get it off the list.

Now for the problem You have now This is a 2009 Model Laptop so have You run Memtest on the memory ?? Stress tested the CPU ?? Have you also tested the HDD ??

About a Year ago I was playing around running Win 10 Pro on a ancient eMachines desktop. Celeron D 356 single core. 512 MB of 400 RAM and the original PATA HDD. I was amazed I could boot it. I later upped the RAM to 2x 1GB. For some reason I never found, it'd fail half way though boot and I'd hit the power reset and it'd finish booting. I needed the PSU for another PC and my experiment was over.

Anyway, There "Should" be Something showing in the Event logs ?? If You could run the DM Log Collector and upload the results here following this tut: BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums it might (?) be helpful.

    Hi,
Well yes F9 is setup default you should use that F10 to save and exit
Then return and see what changes.

Here's some items I would change if they don't after setup default is done and restarting

Enterprise is only available through a volume license subscription. And as far as I know you can't just buy one license. Even if you could it would be very expensive. It's a corporate product, its not meant to be used on the consumer side of things. You could install it but you won't be able to legally activate it. It's KMS activated. Your only legal option would be the 90 day trial of the Full Enterprise. Which will only work for 90 days, then you would be right back where you are now.

When your doing these installs, do you have all external devices unplugged? The only thing I would have connected is the USB thumb drive install media. Unplug any printers, all in ones, external drives (other than the install media drive). I wouldn't normal advise this but keyboards and mice too, if the laptop keyboard and track pad work. Maybe even do the install with no Internet connection and setup a local account. Just to see if you can get to the desktop.

    Hi,
    Read the right column
Says tab to move through items I believe the down arrow key will scroll down too
Once your on the network item hit the enter key might see disable and enable use either arrow key to select Disable and hit the enter key again.
    Save and exit with F10

As Far As I Know, OK I'll admit I Don't know a lot At the Kernel level there isn't any difference between Windows 10 versions just like Win 7 or 8.1. If the OP can't install the latest version of Win 10 Pro, I'd advise trying a earlier release ??

In My Humble Opinion, since You have the Win 8.1 Pro Key, installing that would be the better option. But I'm also a Win 8.1 user. After Win 8.1 is installed and upgraded, you could try running the upgrade adviser and if it says the upgrade would work, clone a copy of the Win 8.1 Pro to another partition or drive and upgrade it to Win 10.

Yes. You can change the hard drive and install Win10 Pro on that. If you have a valid key for Win 8.1 Pro that can be used to activate it.

The digital licence it will get will be stored on the Microsoft activation servers and is tied to the unique hardware ID of the PC. The hard drive is not part of this ID, so can be freely changed without affecting activation.
