    Dell 8700 Still on 1607


    I have two Dell XPS 8700 that are still on 1607. I have not been in a rush to manual upgrade, but wondering why these are still on windows 1607. Any ideas? Anything to look for?

    These are my kids computer and they are logged in as stndard users. I have an admin account but rarely logged on. So I logged them out and logged in as admin and 10 minutes later, I get a windows popup that says "Your Devices Needs The Latet Security Updates" and says it needs to update the the latest version of windows. It then downloaded and went to install and I got an error that says "something went wrong" and give MS Support the Error Code 0xc0000005.

    I hit try again and waiting for it to download again.

    Any ideas?

    According to one post I found its a permissions problem.

    One of the two upgraded on the retry. The other i got it upgraded, but the upgrade assistant failed. I did a restart and during the previous upgrade try, the upgrade assistant icon was on the desktop so I ran it. It failed. I did a retry and error again. Instead of retry, I click cancel. That screen closed and then the purple window with upgrading windows was there. It went through. Maybe there were two instances of it running. Not sure, but all upgraded now.
