    Win 7 Media Creation Tool

Is there a Media Creation Tool for Win 7? I am thinking of putting Win 7 on a separate disk to dual boot to play some games that won't play on Win 10. Still have Win 7 disks but they take forever to clean install.

Nope! You have to create the media yourself from an official ISO image file.

(Note: you MUST have your product key!)

    Download Windows 7 Disc Images

No, see here... https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/home ...and click the links provided.

You'll find that there's an MCT available for 8.1 and another for 10, but with Windows 7 you have to provide your product key before MS let you download an ISO - and that has to be a retail key, the OEM CoA key from the sticker on a PC won't work.

If you need an official Microsoft download of a Win7 ISO this 3rd-party tool...

...will generate the links you need to download direct from Microsoft.

Thanks. I assume then I would use Rufus to make a bootable USB drive from the ISO image?

Easier than that, you can do it yourself with DiskPart commands. @NavyLCDR explains...

Rufus is a waste of time.

Create a Bootable USB Flash Drive

Make sure to use FAT32 instead of NTFS:

To create a bootable USB flash drive

Insert a USB flash drive into a running computer.

Open a Command Prompt window as an administrator.

    Type diskpart.

In the new command line window that opens, to determine the USB flash drive number or drive letter, at the command prompt, type list disk, and then click ENTER. The list disk command displays all the disks on the computer. Note the drive number or drive letter of the USB flash drive.

At the command prompt, type select disk <X>, where X is the drive number or drive letter of the USB flash drive, and then click ENTER.

Type clean, and the click ENTER. This command deletes all data from the USB flash drive.

To create a new primary partition on the USB flash drive, type create part pri, and then click ENTER.

To select the partition that you just created, type select part 1, and then click ENTER.

If your server platform supports Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), you should format the USB flash drive as FAT32 rather than as NTFS. To format the partition as FAT32, type format fs=fat32 quick, and then click ENTER.

Type active, and then click ENTER.

Type exit, and then click ENTER.

...Then just mount the Windows installation ISO file and copy all the files and folders from the mounted ISO file to the USB flash drive and you're done.

As you still have a Win7 disk, you shouldn't need to download an ISO. You could copy all the files from the disk to a prepared bootable USB.

I just made the USB drive. So I copy all the files from the installation DVD to the USB?
