I'm out of ideas, sorry. If it were my computer I would replace the keyboard and go from there. If that didn't help I'd try a different hard drive, remove 1/2 of the memory, pull the WiFi card, stuff like that.

Basically remove everything that is not absolutely needed for the computer to run.

    1) Open the HP website > support and drivers > enter the computer's product or serial number > select the operating system > view the drivers and bios downloads > post a URL or hyperlink into the thread.
HP Software and Driver Downloads for HP Printers, Laptops, Desktops and More | HP® Customer Support

    2) HP computers come with factory installed UEFI diagnostic tests.
The factory default tests are only memory and drive.

If the UEFI diagnostics had been downloaded then there are many more tests: system tests, and component tests:
    The latest version is 6.5

    The extensive tests are:
    Battery,
    Processor,
    Wireless,
    Hard drive SMART,
Hard drive short and long DST,
    Extensive memory,
    Video memory,
    System board

    The component tests are:
    Processor,
    Memory,
    Hard drive,
    Power,
    Audio
    Fingerprint reader
    Keyboard,
    Mouse/Touchpad
    Network
    Optical drive
    Parallel port
    System board
    USB port
    Video
    Wireless module

    3) Ask Mom whether they are or are not installed and whether you can restart the computer to run the HP UEFI diagnostics.

    4) If the UEFI diagnostics were downloaded then they are available by power on or restart and repetitively clicking the F2 key.
This opens the BIOS UEFI diagnostics. If you have this installed then run the extensive test as a loop until failure. Start it in the evening and the next day if it has completed 2 passes then click the keyboard escape key to abort the testing and check the pass in the BIOS UEFI log.
If there is any problem with the computer, even the battery, the testing is designed to abort and will display an error message. The keyboard is not on the extensive list and is only on the component list. So the testing should complete if there are no problems with the major hardware components.
The next day when the testing is aborted the component tests can be ran for the keyboard or any other component as needed.

    5) If the UEFI diagnostics were not downloaded then HP has an option to download the diagnostic tests to a USB drive.

This is mid-range (version 3.9) between the default version 1.2 and the downloadable version 6.5

The next steps are the flash drive method:

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Official Site

    6) Find a flash drive that you can format ( > or = to 8 GB)

    7) On a working computer create a bootable HP UEFI flash drive:
Follow the instruction in this link:
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Official Site

    8) Ask you mom for permission to reboot the computer so that you can run the HP UEFI diagnostics on the computer.

    9) Insert the bootable HP UEFI diagnostics into any USB port.

    10) Power on the computer or click restart and during the power on or the restart repetitively click the F9 key.

    11) The BIOS boot menu should appear > select external USB hard drive

    12) Run the extensive test or the loop until failure test. .

When the HP UEFI diagnostic testing has completed please use a camera or smart phone camera to take pictures and post images into the thread.

Sadly, I can't get the latest diagnosis version on my laptop but it's on my computer but it's v1.6.0.0. The only options are memory test, hard drive check, and language. I'm 17 and it's my laptop so I can restart it but I can't use her computer to gather resources from the internet. I'm going to run the extensive check and see what happens.

The drive passed the SMART and DST tests.
    Was there a memory test?
Were you able to find a flash drive to run more of the HP UEFI diagnostic tests?

Look of the computer back near the battery to see if there is a product number or serial number > enter into this link > select operating system > post the URL or hyperlink into the thread:
