    Hi!
    I still have some questions.

    Deaa:
    1)
Did you have internet connection open when you upgraded to Win 10 En?
    2)
Is your Win 10 now activated and did if happen automatic?

And then some ideas why MS has tried to block language change in upgrade :
I still admire if Microsoft has some reason not to allow change OS language in upgrade. Can there be some parts "near OS" which are not updated in the upgrade process and which still remains to "old language" and can later cause some issues. Or can there be some language dependent parts in installed applications which which are not of course changed in upgrade. MS allows language change in clean install and then issues above are not possible. I hope I'm wrong when thinking those possible upgrade problems.

Yes, the machine was hooked up all the time and yes, it's now automatically activated.

Seems to me it took a couple of boots and maybe 30 minutes to an hour doing some sort of background finalizing stuff for the computer and programs. Initially everything worked right and fast, but most programs I opened or drives it pondered a bit. Also my home network showed but wasn't accessible and the NVidia kept 2nd monitor blank, and it would not authenticate windows when I tried.

However, next boot it asked for my MS Live ID and after that it authenticated automatically, my home network works just like before, and windows update sorted out the NVidia problem.
A couple of times, doing some task for the first time since the update, it seems to think a few seconds even now.

As for language change - yes it's weird because after install it lets you freely select display and text languages anyway.
My Win8 was in English, and that's the way I keep it but need the Finnish keyboard anyhow...so it was kind of weird it would want to install a Finnish w10 based on locality...and then refuse installation because locality was mismatched with the system language. Kinda stupid, but luckily easily corrected by forcing a bogus locality.

    Hi!
Thanks for your detailed explanation. Ok our situation is different. My win 8.1 is based on Finnish windows 8. I have also English as display language but core OS is Finnish and I would like to change it to English in upgrade, but I think now it is not possible without first upgrade to win 10 Fin and after that clean install to win 10 En. And now I don't want to install all applications again and adjust all settings. So I must approve that my win 10 core OS is Finnish.

I upgraded Win 7 Home Eng to Win 10 Home. I used MS media creation to make DVD and after that upgraded to Win 10. My local settings was Finland. No problem to upgrade to En OS. After the upgrade I loaded Finnish language pack, because another user wants to use Windows 10 in Finnish.
