Can you tell me in detail exactly what to do? I can't seem to get anything to work.

I'm not using windows 8/8.1/10 so there is no such "get windows 10 app" for me to click on

it says here on the page

    Warning
Microsoft will only offer the free upgrade to Windows 10 for qualifying Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 PCs and tablets until July 29th 2016.

After this date, you will have to pay for Windows 10 if you did not take advantage of and reserve your free upgrade offer using the Get Windows 10 app.

In the thread I posted you'll find this: Get the KB file ,, install it and restart your PC and you should see a windows logo in the lower right hand corner of your task bar.. click on it and reserve your copy. HTH

Note that this is 2016 so you have a year to get it to work!

DX it doesnt appear for mee i tried installing the update but its stuck on "searching for updates on this computer" for all eternity with no hard disk internet CPU or disk usage D:

edit: its doing something.. copying packages but its taken absolutely ages to get to this stage. is this normal???

YESSS IT FINALLY WORKED... Wait nevermind the window vanishes every time i try to open it after clicking the icon!!

Ok it works now!! I had to restart multiple times and then windows had to install 2 more updates and now its working! but i'm uncertain if it will actually work and upgrade to windows 10 when it comes out because of the problems i had trying to get the notification to simply even appear.
