Windows 10 Build 10240 not coming through on Build 9926?

Managed to update Build 9926 with an ISO for build 10162 that I found on my computer that I didn't know I downloaded. Just updating to the latest, 10240, Windows 10 now. Thanks for the help

Well this is lovely I went to change to my WD250 drive with win10 preview and it was corrupt and would not repair. So I connected my ssd drive and reinstalled 10162. Now it will not activate. I spent 2 hrs playing around with ms code I received by email and verified email addresses and to no avail. It would not pick up any updates to get me to 10240 I got tired of it so gave up and booted to win8.1. Seems I cannot activate the preview either. So much for testing. Anyone know a way around this?

Seems strange. I just, about 2 hours ago, updated Build 9926 to Build 10162 and it activated without me having to do anything. Also the update for 10240 came through straight away. Not sure why yours won't activate unless Microsoft have done something in the past few hours to stop activations. Only thing you could try is to install an older build than 10162 and see if it will activate. Other than I am not too sure sorry

well that's good news. I shall give it a try shortly. I may have to download a older version than 10162. Will post later

Windows 10 Build 10240 has just finished downloading and went through the process of installing. However, the laptop restarted and started with a black screen. Couldn't do anything about it I had to force shut down. When I booted it back up, it said restoring previous Windows version and then rolled back to Build 10162. Think I am going to wait to Windows 10 is fully released before bothering to update.

I tried one last thing before searching for a iso earlier than 10162. I preformed chkdsk several times and repair several times on the win10 preview drive from Win8.1 and it finally was successful. So I booted into Win10 without any problems this time and was successful in getting the 10240 update and all is running fine now. That was scary for a while today.

I think you will have to download the 10240 ISO file (Via a Google Search ), then do a clean install (You will need a licence key)

If you still are on an old build, try downloading latest version (build 10586) ISO from Microsoft Tech Bench and use it to upgrade. If you get a message that this upgrade cannot be installed on your computer and you are offered a clean-install instead, open the ISO and copy all files to a folder. Then open this folder, open the sources folder and edit the file cversion.ini with Notepad. You see two version numbers. Change both to your own version and save the file. Then run setup from the original folder (not from sources). You should now be able to upgrade to 10586.

Language warning: "English" is English US and "English International" is English GB. Make sure you download the correct language to allow you upgrade. Also you need version "Windows 10", others are limited and cannot be used to upgrade an Insider or previous build.
