    Is This Possible

I have a new (6 weeks old) HP Laptop Workstation It came with an older version of Windows 10 Professional which I upgraded to the Anniversary Edition. As per usual there are some small glitches that come with an upgrade as opposed to a clean install. Is there a way to perform a clean install of the Anniversary Edition without having to buy a new copy? I asked HP and they replied: "To do a clean install you will need a product key. As you had the update before you will need to contact Microsoft for the product key as we cannot generate those keys."

It certainly is possible - you don't need a key to re-install - what HP told you is wrong.. You can download the Anniversary Edition ISO from MS, clean install it and select "I don't have a key" when asked. It will activate automatically. See this tutorial for details.

It is probably a good idea to download drivers for your laptop before you start (or backup the ones you have installed with Export-WindowsDriver).

Even easier ! If you upgraded to Anniv, there is a built-in clean install option. See this tutorial for how to generate a link from the Action Center/Recovery to download clean install tool and an ESD ISO to use -
