Please understand. I'm an Asperger. (High functioning autistic.) I'm unable to do many ordinary things. But on the other side of the equation, Asperger's syndrome can be a super-power. I learnt all the basic guitar chords in one night... figured 'em out... but the tutorials you guys sent me did not answer my question/s!

The Asperger mind works like a simple computer. (286 maybe...) Information given to me has to be totally literal if possible. Anything IMPLIED, I may miss. And I have very little RAM!!! I don't process incoming information well at all.

The tutorials start a step or two ahead of where I'm at. I don't know how to get to the first step. On the first screen in Macrium, do I choose CLONE THIS DISK, or IMAGE THIS DISK?

All I wanna do is move some files and programs from the C drive to the D drive, (where they should've been in the first place. My wife kept saving things on the C drive, (which I reserved for games plus the OS).

All of us have some kind of disabilities. My vanity and love for single malt whisky are mine, making me a fruitcake, not to mention my neurological damages which forced me to apply for disability pension just yesterday as told here.

I'm with you my fellow geek, we'll go this through together

I am already grateful to you for teaching me something new. After reading your original post I have Googled and Binged your disabilities. You have my full respect.

Let's see what you wrote in your original post:

I'm trying to move files from my C drive to the D drive so they won't be effected by the Win 10 clean install. Most of my files are already on the D drive because I reserved the C drive for a few games I like to play. C:/ is an SSD.
If your only intention is as you mentioned to copy the files from your C: drive to a safe place, then clean install Windows 10, and finally extract your files and copy them to new fresh Windows 10 install, then you select Image this disk selecting the physical hard disk where the C: drive is located.

In my case in this example I am saving the D: drive where my personal files are located, so I unselect other disks and other partitions on first disk except the D: partition. In your case you would unselect all other disks and partitions than the C: drive:

Now I select Image selected disks on this computer:

Follow the on-screen instructions to create the image. This excellent video tutorial on our sister site Seven Forums will explain how Macrium works: Imaging with free Macrium - Windows 7 Help Forums

OK, I got really confused... so I tried another method... but that was even worse! The videos don't really work for me I guess. My eyesight is really bad... and I'm dyslexic, autistic, and blablabla... I know I have to make an image or clone of the data I wanna keep after I install Win 10. And after the installation of the new OS, I have to mount the data so I can use it. There's a video up already that will attempt to show me how to deal with the data. How to mount it I guess? 'Cause I don't know how to do that. But I think I probably need to get a text description instead of a video, telling me what I have to do to make the image or clone. Do I choose CLONE THIS DISK, or IMAGE THIS DISK? And how do I tell Macrium where to put the "disk?"

I don't see my latest post... so I'm posting again.

You mentioned EXTRACTING my files after Win 10 is installed? I thought I had to MOUNT the folder containing my files.
