Double Click setup.exe vs. boot from USB drive

After downloading the Windows 10 Tech Preview I've made a bootable USB drive.

Am I able to just double click the setup.exe when the pc is on and at my desktop?

or do I have to restart & boot from the USB drive?

    Thank you in advance.

Depends what you want to do. If you want to upgrade you can click on the .exe (you don't have to put it on USB - you can just mount the ISO).

If you want to clean install or change from 32bit to 64 bit you have to boot from it.

Clean install is 10x faster than upgrade.

So If I have windows 8.1 32 os and want to go to 64-bit Windows 10 a clean install in needed?

Yes. You always have to clean install to replace 32 with 64. You can't upgrade.

Why did you post a picture of Rufus? Do you have another question?
