Did you create a new user account and try opening the apps in the new account?

    Apologies for the delayed response!

Well, I guess one isn't supposed to break all these rules about what an administrator account can or cannot do, so that it supposedly protects the user from malware and such, but I've been using Windows all these years and apparently have been lucky (back when by default, Admin accounts meant one had full control of the computer), so I looked for a post on this forum describing how the "apps" would just "work" like I think they should...and I've pasted below the method that seems to work, originally posted by @mdmd. So for now, rather than make multiple user accounts, I've done it this way instead (until Microsoft decides they have "my" best interest in mind by controlling my machine and resetting it the way they want):
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    If you are the Administrator,
    using the built-in Administrator account,

    have access to secpol.msc,
and you are allowed to make changes,
you are responsible for the changes you make.

run secpol.msc > local policies > Security Options > User Account Control: Admin Approval Mode for the Built-in Administrator Account > Enabled

    Also need to check >

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
    EnableLUA is set to 1

    Sign Out or Reboot

Now, Store Apps a.k.a. the metro can be used using the built-in Administrator Account

I have been running metro apps in Server 2012 using the built-in Administrator Account since its release.

The Store App can be disabled using the group policy editor (gpedit.msc)

run gpedit.msc > Local Computer Policy > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Store > Turn off the Store application

As Administrator, UAC can be manually adjusted from the action center.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you all ever so much in helping me repair my Windows X Pro image. MS itself was absolutely less than worthless.

    Much appreciation,

    BB

Thanks for the feedback, it's your choice and the main thing is that you have everything working again. I, personally, do not agree with your approach. I think you leave yourself vulnerable if you were to be infected with a virus or some form of hacking attack since your account gives them total control. The user account is still an administrator account but it does give an extra level of protection compared to the built in admin account.

Yes, indeed I understand your points and their validity. I don't fly blind though (or try not to). I run various virus/malware checks regularly, keep bi-weekly backup images on a separate drive, and often do manual restore points even if I think Windows has (or should) be doing them anyway...especially since I've learned that the automatic points get turned off sometimes by Windows updates themselves (e.g. when I updated from 8.1 to Ten). I don't take any of it for granted and yet no matter what I try to do, I know I'll get burned one day, if nothing else by a backdoor "security" measure intentionally installed using hardware and/or software by MS/NSA and their kind.

If it weren't for people like yourselves outside of Microsoft offering their very generous support, MS by itself would not have been able self-sustain (which no doubt would have been a good thing), so again....I thank everyone so very much for all of your help.

    Very kindly,

    BB
