Windows 10: Upgrade to build 10586 fails at 32%
Upgrade to build 10586 fails at 32%
I am trying to upgrade from windows 10 free upgrade to build 10586 (x64 pro) and it stalls at the same point whether the upgrade is from windows update or an ISO file on dvd. I select the first option to keep existing files and apps. But it stalls at 32% . Installing features and drivers at 23%. And I get the red box windows could not configure one or more system components etc. )xC1900101-0x30018, the installation failed in the first_boot phase with an error during SYSPREP operation. Any suggestions or should I go for a complete reinstall and not keeping existing apps and data? Its an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. Works fine on the original Windows 10 pro to which the system has regressed back to fortunately.

It's not happy with something it's running into, obviously. Are you trying to go from 10240 to 10586? Don't know what you currently are on. You could spend hours/days fighting the "Upgrade" path, when a clean install will start you fresh. Probably spend less time reinstalling your apps and transferring your data back. Backup first to something external and disconnect it when doing the clean install.
Thanks for that, yes was upgrading from 10240, guess I will try and fresh install and put my apps back
Quite likely a third party anti-virus program or (less likely) Windows Firewall if this is the error code it throws up: 0xC1900101-0x30018

Have a look at the setuperr.log file - there may be some clues at the end of the file about what is causing your problems. My installation failed at the first boot phase due to a partially corrupted boot configurations - see Solution for Failed Windows 10 Update Installation Error 0x80004005. Your error may be different though.
my first post here since i start to be pretty desperate. My Win 10 (version 10.0 Build 10240) has downloaded and installed version 1511, 10586 now already five times. Every time it asks to reboot to finish the upgrade there pops up a window...
I am trying to perform the November update (1511) on this computer. (starting from the previous Windows 10 version)
Since I have another problem where it doesn't appear in Windows Update (despite fulfilling many requirements to make it appear), I...
Ok, I'm pretty sure I know what's going on, but I don't know which commands to run to fix. So, Windows 10 runs into issues during the reboot portion of the upgrade. I think it's that the windows boot manager believes it's in the first partition on...
After upgrading to Build 10586.3, I wanted to save a copy of INSTALL.WIM in case I needed it to make repairs with DISM. I looked in SOURCES\$WINDOWS.~BT but it was not to be found. Looking on the ISO that a downloaded from the "Microsoft Software...
When I try to upgrade to build 10074 I get a failure message that reads
• fbl_impressive Professional 10074 - Error 0xc1900107. I have tried Google and Bing but can't find a fix.
