    Dell Inspiron 7537 Laptop & Creator's Upgrade

My Dell Inspiron 15 7537 laptop hasn't been offered the update to the Creator's Update via Windows Update yet and it doesn't appear on Dell's upgrade list. Has anyone updated their Inspiron 7537 to the Creator's Update via the Media Creation Tool or ISO file and did you have any problems?

I don't have that model Dell (I have an Inspiron 15 5577) but I upgraded my desktop to the creators upgrade early and had no problems. As Dell supports Win 10 on that model it should not have any problems with the creators upgrade.

The upgrade has been rolling out in phases. Not sure where they are with it now, maybe why you haven't been offered it yet.

I had a reply from Dell on the Dell Laptop forum that Dell do not intend to test my 3 year old Inspiron 7537 laptop for the Creator's Upgrade. Does Microsoft rely on Dell's advice before offering laptop upgrades? Does that mean Microsoft will never offer the CU via Windows Upgrade for my laptop.

What Dell does and what Microsoft does are separate. I see many older PC's that are not supported for Win 10 from HP, Dell, Acer, etc and they were all offered Win 10 by Microsoft.

Vendors want to sell you a new PC and thus will say they do not (officially) support new OS's or major upgrades.

See if this forum thread will help you get the Creator's Upgrade.

Thanks. Your post implies MS will probably offer an update regardless of whether Dell have tested my laptop. I'll wait a while longer to see if the CU is offered via Windows Update.

I've just spotted the CU (v1703) is now available via Windows Update for my 5 year old home built desktop PC despite deferring the update. It's strange my older desktop PC has been offered the CU but not my laptop.

Is it more reliable currently to update to the CU using the Media Creation Tool / ISO or just let Windows Update do the upgrade? I have of course made a full Reflect backup.

As its just rolling out to your desktop, I'd wait a day or two as it may also roll out to your laptop. You may have to leave the Laptop powered on and on line for a while.
