I used the ISO (64bit) burnt to DVD, changed boot order to install and installed to a new 250GB HDD, setup was about 15 mins and the dual boot works great, Windows 10 installed fine and Windows 7 has not been affected and runs as normal
Same here but I used USB Drive to install and am dual booting with no problems. I partitioned my SSD Drive and allowed 40GB for Win 10. No problems so far...doesn't look all that different from "8". I installed "Classic Shell" and it works the same.

I'd like to ask a recommendation on dual booting Win7/Win10. I'm asking because I haven't done a dual boot set up since the WinXP previews.

I have Win7 Ultimate currently installed. Should I do as Stephanie and commit a whole drive to a Win10 install, or is it possible to install it as just another directory on the primary drive (Crucial M500 480Gb SSD)? I believe there is enough room on the primary drive to carve out a second partition to put the Win10 on.

I know, bit of a noobish question for a guy that's been doing support for 20 years. :-)

Thanks Jeff, this would be something I'd be doing over the weekend so just need to gather everything I need beforehand.
I used the VMware Player also to set it up, running no issues

Sorry if you already know this, but these are the settings I used, followed the tutorial on eightfoums, it's for setting up 8 but same settings work for 10

What VM do most of you use, I'd have to install to a VM on this Notebook as I can't make another partition. Plus I'd like to give Macrium a try, is the free version Macrium Reflect ?
I can confirm that Macrium Reflect free works just fine on W10. I restored an image to another SSD this morning and had no problems.

Windows 10 - Dual Boot with Windows 7 or Windows 8

I replaced win-8 but still on dual boot,
I hope you made win-7 your default os Stephy to possibly avoid future issue in win-10

Joan the link below will take you to the VMWare downloads page, VMWare Player is the very bottom product.

    Link.

    This one is for MalwareBytes.

    Link.

    Note   Note
Make sure you uncheck the 'Enable Free Trial' box when installing MalwareBytes.

Thanks for the links, don't need the Malwarebytes one as I have the Pro Family version of that program.

Thanks for the info, I've heard so much about Macrium I wanted to try it, I already have Acronis 2014 and also use the built in backup software but wanted to see how Macrium worked before I committed to playing with 10.
