    Still waiting for the update

Here's the thing. I've registred my computer for a Windows 10 upgrade only last week. I'm still not having any notification about when I'll receive that upgrade. How long do I still have to wait ?

    Thanks...

Hello Magik, and welcome to Ten Forums.

No need to wait. If you like, you can upgrade to the free Windows 10 offer now using either option in the tutorial below.

    That's a very good tutorial.

An additional recommendation, regardless of how you apply the free upgrade:

Back up your existing Windows installation first. The best method is to image it. (A lot of people like Macrium Reflect Free.) If you don't already have a backup drive, this would be a good time to buy one.

The odds are good that the upgrade would proceed without any problems. There is a slight chance that it would fail in such a way as to leave you with an operating system that is sufficiently broken as to not allow you to boot into Windows. The free upgrade could become expensive if you have to pay someone to fix that.

When I installed 8.1 to upgrade it to 10, I went to windows update and there was the Get Windows 10 logo all ready to go, I didn`t have to do a single update.

Well, before last week I wasn't even getting the Get Windows 10 popup. I had to make a system update to see it. Maybe I need to do a new one to get the popup that says I can download Windows 10..?

If you are really set on using Windows Update, you can try this:
Cans How To Force Your System To Update : PERSONAL TECH : Tech Times

First of all, go to "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and delete all files in that location so that Windows Update can start clean. If you have installed Windows on a drive other than "C," replace "C" with the proper drive letter (for instance access "D:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" if your Windows is installed on "D").

From there on, tap the Windows key, type Windows Update, and click it to open it. Hit the Windows key again to bring up the command prompt and type "cmd." Instead of hitting Enter, however, right click and select "Run as Administrator." Next up, type "wuauclt.exe /updatenow" and again refrain from hitting enter. This command will make Windows Update check for updates.

Head back to the Windows Update window, select "Check for updates" on the left, and you should notice a status message that says "Checking for updates..." When you notice this message, go back to the command prompt where you typed the command without hitting Enter, and hit Enter now.

At this point, Windows Update should say that it's downloading the latest Windows 10. As always, however, make sure to back up your data before proceeding with the Windows 10 install.

I don't really mind using another way. It's just because I thought it was the only way to do it :P I think I'll use the Media Creation Tool as stated higher on this thread.

    A good choice.

And just a gentle nudge, in case you missed this important advice given earlier:
