Ok Len, Take it step by step - ask any questions

All of the steps are in your thread,

    Here's a simple outline

    1) Clean install Windows 10
The instructions to wipe the drive are in post# 79
    Then just continue the install

    2) Creating a bootable miniTool PW disc instructions can be found in post# 73

    3) Resizing the C: partition instructions can be found in TopGun's post# 58

Good luck - post your progress or questions.

    Hi Bill and all,

Just to let you know I am a very happy bunny, all complete it did make the same disk schema and I wasted two more disks, but hey not to worry I have 95 more to try lol....No Seriously, what I did, I downloaded the minitool partition program NOT BOOTABLE!!!!! and took a chance, I thought if I cocked it up I can always restore again...However, I just installed, don't know if this was the correct way, but there was a split partition option, so I took that one, I made it around 350 I have plenty of room on the disk....Just slid the sliders to this size pressed apply and restart, worked like a dream, also saved me another couple of disks, I can highly recommend this option if like me you don't want to wastes disks that is...Well they are not wasted I will hang them up in the garden to scare the birds away from my strawberries......

So, happy to mark this one SOLVED and I would like to thank you all for all the help that you gave me....

I hope you are enjoying the weekend...

    Best regards - Len

    Excellent Len!

Just as with the proverbial feline ...

Glad you figured out to use the installed MiniTool PW ... I recommend the bootable only when System partitions are involved. But either way, PW is a great tool. You also decided to use the split partition operation - good man!

The move/resize operation can work in a similar fashion ... move the slider to the size you want. This operation leaves free space instead of another partition (resize, not a split). As I said ... a million ways to skin ....

It has so far been a wonderful weekend, capped off by hearing your good news.

Congratulations Len, you are now a techie

You are welcome Len and all sounds well.

I was helping another member with a hyperlink issue on MSO 2010 /Outlook (OL), but I was running on memory since I don't have 2010 (trying to recall what MS did way back in OL 98 )

They said MSO 2010 was fine, except ..... for links in mail recv'd in OL 2010. The links would not open - links worked fine in all other MSO applications, just not OL and it might only be in rcv'd mail (Ctrl-click works when composing I think ????)

Could you check that on your OL?
Send yourself an eMail with a link to tenforums.com, when you recv it, see if you can open the link. If you can ... you're going to be a hero!

If you cannot launch the link, it's little comfort to know that it is a known bug. MS has changed MSHTMS a number of times over the past two or three years - that's probably the dll that is responsible for the issue.

Let me know if your OL does or does not have the open link in recv'd mail issue.

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Hi Bill,

Yes of course I will help out and send an email to myself......But sorry...how do I send a link to Tensforum, is there a special email that I should?? If you or someone can send me the link, I will do it straight away...

    Regards Len

    Update...

I sent an email to myself and one to one of my other accounts.... I copied a link from Ebay and sent that, when you receive the email and click on the link, you get the option to open in Internet explorer, choose app from the store or Edge (no option for Outlook)...However, I opened the link in Edge and straight to EBay it went....So good news, yes it works OK doing it to myself will try Tensforum or anywhere else if you want me to..Just give me an email address..

    Hope this helps - Len:)

Yes, that helps a lot Len, thank you.

After reading your post, I recalled that the issue was IE11 related (sorry 'bout that chief!)

The eBay link is good enough for the test, there's no need do try tenforums.com
But ... if you want to include an address in an email, juts grab the URL from the address bar in a broswer and paste it itno the mial item. You can also manually type a URL such as https://www.tenforums.com into a mail item.

So, if I could impose upon you once again - run the same test that you ran with the eBay link, but choose IE11.

If you cannot choose IE11, because the default browser OL uses got set when you tested it the first time, don't worry about it. As I mentioned, it will probably require a change to MSHTML (MS has to do that) or OL has to be repaired in Pgms & Feats to correct the Side-by-Side dll reference.

I appreciate your doing this and apologize for not indicating the issue was IE11 related.

    Hi Bill,

Not a problem..I sent this link email to myself and I am typing from the open link so again no problem with either IE11 or Edge both works OK..Let me know of any other tests you would like to carry out....

I take you the person you are trying to help have tried:

    Start
    Command prompt admin
    sfc /scannow
    restart.

    And

This is the one that usually works for OL

    Start
    command prompt admin
    netsh
winsock reset (not reset winsock it don't work this way round)
    restart..

    And

    From OL
    file
    Options
    add-ins
    disable all
    restart OL

As I say few things to try if they have not yet tried...But knowing you, they were probably the first things you told them to do...lol..

Thanks again, Len ... some of those things were tried + a number of other things (dism, re-registering the dlls, ...), nothing seemed to help these members resolve the issue on their machines. (I think there are two, possibly 3, members on one thread looking for the answer. It appears that you, Len, might have THE answer.

Here's the other thread: Can not declare IE 11 as default program - Windows 10 Forums
I'll post a link on that thread to the post above with your suggestions - you can, at your leisure, enter the fray

    Thank you very much,

    Bill
