The link sn00ker posted in post no 2 will create bootable install media for you. Personally, I prefer using USB thumb drives for my installs. faster than optical media. I use diskpart, option two here to create mine from ISO files.
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials...e-windows.html same procedure works for Windows 7, 8 and 10. That thumb drive is good for both legacy and UEFI installs.

A non bootable Windows 10 disk absolutely can do the equivalent of a clean install from within Windows. In fact, that's the only thing it can do. A bootable disc will offer the options of keeping personal data and will also let you choose where to install Windows. If you open the non bootable disc while in Windows and run the setup file, It will install a fresh copy of Windows and in the process, wipe out everything else on the drive.

I'm using Imgburn 2.5.8, no problems. If you get it from here, ignore your AV if it flags it as infected, it's a false positive.

Let me guess, are you using Norton?

It gets flagged, even by Malwarebytes, because it contains other software bundled into the installer. However, choosing custom install and rejecting the extra stuff is easy and gives you just ImgBurn. To me, the flagging by MBAM is too aggressive. There is nothing wrong with the main program of ImgBurn at all.

Right, I forgot about that since I automatically do custom installs of all software just for this reason.

Let me guess you try downloading IMG Burn version 2.5.8 , right ? If so, there has been people saying that version does have problems . What you need to do is use version 2.5.7 instead . You can get it from the website below, once you click download give it time to start up and then just do so ... See if that version works for you, its the same version I only use
    Download ImgBurn 2.5.7.0 for Windows - OldVersion.com

Thanks for the information. You got the old version that works fine for you.
Today I downloaded from that site, after unzip the file and tried to install - it is very problematic.
Don't know yet how much damage it has done to my computer. That's the computer I want to reformat the hard disk and do a clean install of Windows 10, so if it is damaged, that's OK.

When you got your copy long time ago, the site probably was not infected. Today, it is a very different world. I would like to let folks here know that I ran into big problems with the following site:

    warning   Warning
Let's keep this friendly shall we.

The software was flagged because it has optional PUPS in it that will get installed unless unselected during installation. Otherwise, the program is perfectly safe. You just have to pay attention to setup like any other program.

@ Learner99 You know we both made mistakes and I will be first to apologize since I didn't realize you don't know about installing potentially unwanted programs with software . If you like I ( Or we here ) can help you with cleaning your system . What Anti-Virus and malware programs do you have . Also, if you can take a snap shot of the Programs and Features set up , we can get a better view as to what unwanted programs you might have . I suggest you download malwarebytes from site below, the free version is what you need

IMGBurn did not work for me after several attempts when trying to create the Win10 ISO after I was upgraded to Win10. No biggie, I was able to burn the Win10 Pro ISO via Windows Explorer using the Win10 built-in image burning app. Now, I was unable to get the Win10 ISO DVD to boot initially and I never had problems booting via my internal DVD/ISO in the past when using Win7. I tried several diff DVDs & made numerous changes in bios but was stump for about 1 hour. I eventually used an external USB DVD drive I had laying around and was able to boot from the Win10 DVD/ISO created above. This is all confusing too me, but I think it has something to do with the UEFI features Windows 10 uses. Since I totally skipped over Win8 I'm totally lacking in knowledge of the UEFI boot features/process. My external USB/DVD drive showed up in the bios as a UEFI device while my internal DVD drive did not??? Anyhow, Win10 installed cleaned and activated without any problems, with even my internal DVD burner showing and usable in Device Manager.
