Options are always good.

I'm guessing, considering the 25% - 30% mark is the point where drivers are installed, some of the new drivers are not compatible with your system.
Did you do a proper compatibility check before going for the upgrade? Or did you just directly go for the download?
All adds up to me as they all reboot at the 30% mark and it seems as if the reboot is checking for temp and decides to not boot.
Sounds feasible, anyway!!
wait did u have the same problem?
if so, just unplug the battery and put it under AC or a fan and it will be good....read my above posts for a bigger explanation
The problem lies that the system becomes overheated due to the long process of the installation of windows 10. I tried this upgrade twice and the system shuts down on copying files stage. However, with your process of troubleshooting, i was able to upgrade my system to Windows 10. Appreciate that you have posted the comment, otherwise, i was frustrated in upgrading.
Again.....you're very welcome mate....yeah it is a bit unbelievable but this works and im happy to say that i havent had any problems with my windows 10 since and this seems to be a pretty rare problem because ive had a couple of friends say that it worked fine for them so im glad it worked for you....Cheers...
Also on a side note....this does no harm to your pc...this is just a method of cooling it down for the install to be complete....
Cheers Guys,
Josiah
Dude I know this post is 5 years old and you prob won't see this but ive been looking for a solution for a few days now. I'm running an HP Probook 4545s (64 bit) with Windows 7 currently installed. I'm trying to upgrade to windows 10 and I was having the same problem as the rest of you.. My computer is only 2 years old but I did notice it getting a little hot so I am currently attempting to try this solution. But thank you in advance. If I don't post an update it worked and kudos to you!

Today is July 6th 2020 and so far this fix is still working. Ive tried everything and so far this is the only thing that has worked. I did this all to the letter with the exception of the fan. I placed an ice pack on top of the hottest part of my laptop and so far it seems to be updationg smoothly. It has actually made it to the installation after the first restart so apparently its gonna work. Thank you!
