    Hey ,

Having the same problem, (Dell Inspirion 15 7000, Windows 10 NVidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti). Restored my system to an earlier date before the update but then it looks like the update installed again and problem is back. Now there are no more restore dates before the update. How exactly do I roll back my display drivers?

Hi ccmp99. Welcome to the TenForums @ccmp99

First open device manager, find adapter, right click on it, then properties, then driver. Should be an option to roll back.

If your Update was FCU (Fall Creator Update) that option won't be available. You will need to find driver, hopefully on Dell site, more likely on NVidia site.

    Install it.

Then tell windows and NVidia to lay off updating your driver. I think for NVidia this is done in the GeForce experience app. For Windows, Windows Key + R, type sysdm.cpl, enter. Click on Hardware tab, then Device Installation Settings, then "NO".

Help i barely got this laptop

I also have a Dell Inspirion 15 7000 with Windows 10 NVidia GeForce GTX 1050, but I cannot roll back the driver because it's updated to the most recent, with no previous version to "roll back" to. You said to "find driver" on either the dell or NVidia website, and I'm confused as to how to do so.

    Hi there!

My computer is an MSI Gaming Laptop and has been doing the exact same since I updated to the new Windows 10 Creators Fall Update. I wondered if it was anything to do with updating to a new version of windows?

    Thanks

    Okay... lets try this.

Before trying diagnostic procedures or OS installs I always recommend that you create a backup of your data off machine, create an Image with a tool like Macrium Reflect and have bootable media that matches your current Windows environment. You can also create new media using Windows Media Creation tool.

Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

You will need to download a removal tool and then the drivers. The removal tool is at

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/deta...installer.html

To get driver go to nvidia.com, then click on Drivers. Click the appropriate drop down boxes to get the selection of drivers for your card and OS. You might want to start with the latest and greatest as NVIDIA may have corrected issue. (not saying its Nvidia's fault.)

Assuming you followed my advice and have your backups done boot to safe mode. If your system is responding at all, hold shift key down and click restart. You can do this from login screen. This tutorial explains the Advance Startup Options.

Boot to Advanced Startup Options in Windows 10

In safe mode run the uninstall tool. On successful completion install the driver you selected. I don't have an Nvidia card so I'm not sure what is right driver. Like I said I might start with the latest and greatest. Then try an older driver, say two months back. Boot your machine.

Um, some of these are Optimus Laptops with an Intel iGPU and Nvidia graphics.
I was getting these oddly stripped screens occasionally shortly after the 1709 update, in my case it would appear and after a time go away, you could just about make out that the Task Bar was towards the top of the screen.
It went away after further Windows 10 updates.

However, like today a couple of hours ago I was changing the Task Bar options in Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings > Advanced Tab > Performance > Settings >
The 3rd and 4th items down, Animations in Task bar, Enable peek were changed and that seemed to make the stripped screen reappear.
Also around the same time the Start Menu background seemed to change from solid back to a bit translucent, and back again, a mystery.

All rather strange, no idea why. Something to do with the 1709 update and the Intel Video iGPU which is being used in Windows and most applications. The low power states of these chips or something beyond my knowledge.

The drivers installed by Windows updates have been faultless for 4 years so there is no way I'm fiddling with those.
The Intel iGPU and Nvidia Drivers were the same as installed by the 1703 Windows updates. I have not fiddled with these for some 4 years. Both date from around November 2016.

Thanks for this, rolled back driver through the Device manager and it's OK so far. Although I keep getting the notification to update my driver. I keep choosing the option to wait to update. So far so good. I wonder if they're aware of this problem. Does anyone know? Seems to be enough people complaining...

    Hi ccmp99

Where are the notifications coming from, Windows or Nvidia. I think you also have to shut off in GForce experience.

    I'm sure they know.

    Hey Ken,

Thanks for the response. After looking again I realized the notifications are coming from DELL. So i assume allowing these updates wont effect the intel and Geforce drivers. Just paranoid to allow any updates since I've fixed the problem.

One man's opinion. If your drivers are working don't update them. All these updates are usually to accommodate new gear.

If and this a big if, you BSOD, you report on the forum, they tell which driver caused, you update and you go back to enjoying machine.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.
