    Advice needed! (No screen output)

    Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that someone will be able to give me some advice regarding my old system.

I built the system in late 2013, and I replaced it with a new one in 2016. It was all boxed up and put in the garage. Long story short it was balanced on the beams of the garage and fell off. PC was working perfectly previously but I now get no output from the motherboard VGA/HDMI whatsoever, or any graphics card outputs. System powers on fine, fans spin up as does hard drive and it sounds like it's working but there is no screen output whatsoever.

    Any ideas?

    Hi thebritton.

When you power on do you see the Vendor screen from the MB manufacture? Basic log, hit this F key info.

I would remove graphics card and see if this changes things.

Likely the fall has created one or more hair line fractures when the system absorbed the fall. You know what they say, the fall won't kill you, it is the sudden stopping. I would disconnect everything all the way down to removing CPU. Connect a speaker to speaker pins, remove boot drive and see if it will give any post errors.

Hi Ken, many thanks for the reply.

Currently upon boot up there is nothing on the screen whatsoever. I've stripped the system completely bar the CPU/RAM and there is still nothing on the screen. I've removed the CPU, reseated and reapplied thermal paste but it doesn't seem to have made a difference. No Q-Code is implemented into the motherboard which isn't overly useful, and the speakers did not beep/make a noise.

I have a feeling the motherboard may be somewhat dead.

Yep. On your MB there should be two pins for a case speaker which is used to provide post codes.

There are likely small fractures in joints / circuits.

You could see if you can get a new MB (or used) but no guarantees where issue lies.

    Good luck.

Time to take it out and reassemble everything some contacts may have jumped out, Start with just MB, RAM and GPU connected.
