"No AMD graphics driver is installed" even though the GPU is fine

    Hi,

I just thought I need help with this though it doesn't really bother me that much because I don't game too much anyway.

I just wanna list the specs here first before I talk about more details

    Specs (ASUS X550ZE Laptop):
    AMD A8 7200p
    Radeon R5 (AMD A8) + Radeon R5 M230 2GB
    4GB DDR3
    500GB HDD

The laptop originally came with Windows 8.1 but the first owner had already upgraded it to Windows 10, thus borking the recovery image.

After a few months of usage, I decided to re-install Windows 10 on it since Windows 8 isn't really my taste. Installation ran smoothly, downloaded updates using WU but noticed this problem after restarting.

Device manager detects both the GPU in the processor and the dedicated GPU, but AMD Radeon Settings always tells me that "No AMD graphics driver is installed" everytime I open that program. I downloaded a game to make sure that both GPUs were running fine. The game I used is Counter - Strike: Source and used net_graph as the basis of FPS monitoring, all is well.

I then decided to disable WU and removed the driver that was downloaded by the update, ran DDU in safe mode to remove it then used the driver from the ASUS website. The same error is displaying but this time both GPUs weren't running and the Radeon R5 M230 had Code 43 and I noticed that "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" is being used.

So I went to AMD's website to download the driver, I then experienced the same problem as from the driver that came from the ASUS' website.

Are there any solutions to this? Any help is appreciated :)

Why do you need a solution when it worked originally, then you sabotaged it.

Don't use DDU. Re-install Windows 10 and get your video drivers either from ASUS or Windows updates, as it was in other words.

I only know the Nvidia competition, in which case has a much smaller Control Panel than what you get on a Desktop system and Desktop type Nvidia Card.

Hi, I think you didn't read my post completely :)

The computer was already slow than what it should be. It is the reason why I did a clean install.

Have you downloaded APU Driver? Do not forget Chipset drivers as well.

It worked! I overlooked the 500mb file in AMD's website thinking it didn't offer anything but useless features.

Thanks! I'll be marking this as solved.
