I recently gave an Athlon64 3000+ (1.8GHz) w/ 2GB RAM and an old printer to a poor kid that lives on my street. That old computer is being extremely useful for his school works. That's fulfilling to know that I could help someone!

That was really nice of you to do. I bet you had a huge impact on that child's life.

    Hi there

When Handbrake isn't running nothing seems strange here -- about par for the course.

    Cheers

I had this immediately after upgrading to ten - I'm not sure about the details but from what I can tell it seems that the OS takes the liberty of applying its own voltage multiplier leading to excessive vcore which, in turn, creates absurd heat levels. For some reason I've found that "balanced" power saving mode causes the largest voltage spikes. Mine got up to 1.6v - happily I have 2x 240x120mm radiators + one double thick 120mm so my CPU didn't totally fry.

But still, whereas in 7 I could run Prime95 stable at 35-45 degrees, in 10 I was idling at over 65.I haven't really found a solution as the voltage spike isn't well managed so if I decrease my vcore multiplier to bring my voltages back to where they should be, Windows will occasionally drop the voltage (making it too low) resulting in a BSOD. Long story short, Win10 is not suitable for overclocking or and CPU that is prone to getting hot when the volts are increased (which is pretty much every CPU on the market).
