Best AMD R9 280X Display Driver for W10?

    Hey guys.

What is the best known functioning Windows 10 display driver for the ASUS AMD Radeon R9 280X 3GB graphics card? I tried to update to the latest available from the AMD drivers & support page and I keep constantly experiencing my display driver crashing. It just goes black and then comes back on again. My GPU fan stops and then starts again at the same time. (I hear this when the fan speed is turned up from 20% to 60% (manual fan speed set when playing GTA V).

EDIT: More info; I tried updating my drivers because this issue was also existent on my previous display driver version, however, I do not remember which version that was. It was all fine until 3 days ago when it started crashing (the driver). That's why I tried updating it but the issue persists but more frequent on the newer version.

Last one that worked properly for me with 200 series cards was 7.1.1, any newer one was making problems with 7.4.4 and 7.5.1 being worst.

Temp Fix for newer drivers, Radeon Settings, GPU Scaling on, User in AMD forums discovered that was the fix a day or so ago. If error returns after a restart, just set GPU Scaling on, and should be fine and no need for a Reboot to take effect

I've not had as many issues since I removed Radeon Settings, but even when I had RS installed along with GPU Scaling turned on I still had issues.

Even at the moment I'm having some BSODs (had one yesterday, Saturday as it's now Sunday for UK) that blame the display drivers. Apparently. I'm at a loss here.

Yeah AMD drivers aren't exactly stable lately, a lot of folks stated in AMD forum GPU Scaling on solved there issues, but guess doesn't for everyone, i'm personally waiting til the next released driver with it hopefully fixed for good

I'm afraid they are neglecting all cards bu Rx series. 17.5.1 works just fine since I switched to Rx 460. On R7 260 nothing over 7.1.1 worked like it should.

Unfortunately my R9280X is the only graphics card I have that's powerful with move than 1GB of video memory. I have 2 NVIDIA cards but they are the GeForce 8400 (512MB) and a 9600 GSO (1GB). Definitely not worth switching over.

The fan speed will increase as you game because the card is getting hot. This is normal behavior.
    My note in red.

Anyway your issue may not be driver related per se. I'm also running a R9 280X (Sapphire Vapor X) on my backup system with the 17.5.2 drivers and have no issues. Are you sure there isnít an issue with your card?

BTW my main rig is currently running, and gaming, with the 17.5.1 drivers on an R9 Fury (Sapphire Tri-X) and Iíve not had issues there as well. Currently playing Prey 2.

And everybody keeps saying "7" series drivers. If you really are using the "7" series drivers, you are 10 driver versions behind as the latest drivers are 17.5.2 (beta) and 17.4.4 (WHQL) - Radeon Software Crimson Edition ReLive Graphics Driver Installer for Windows 10 64-Bit

A RX 460 is definitely compatible with the latest Crimson drivers

I have to multitask a lot so excuse me for missing one numeral. With R7 260 I had problems with anything using above DirectX 9.
